Dental Cleanings & Hygiene

Dental cleanings are recommended once every six months for all patients of Tooth Club For Kids. With these routine visits, you and our team will help your child get into the habit of regular dental visits early in life and will create positive dental habits that will extend into adulthood. Regular cleanings help keep your child’s gums and teeth healthy and cavity-free. Although dental care at home is very important, professional dental cleanings will help remove the plaque build-up that can occur despite even with the best brushing and flossing methods. We encourage you to visit Tooth Club For Kids soon for pediatric dental cleanings in Glendale, Arizona.

During a routine check-up, your child’s teeth will be polished to remove any plaque build-up, also known as tartar. In addition, your child will be given a fun toothpaste flavor and can choose to watch a kid-friendly movie during the entire cleaning process. Dr. McKay Garrett will also spend time going over the dietary needs of your child along with proper daily brushing and flossing routines. You may also ask our pediatric dentist for tips on how your child can properly brush and floss and what foods are best for them to eat. You are welcome to call us at 602-843-1275 if you have any questions.

Examination & Consultation

Dr. McKay Garrett will provide a thorough children’s dental examination in Glendale, Arizona, following a routine cleaning appointment. The process will include an examination of the child’s mouth, teeth and gums, and a discussion about at-home dental care. If the child has tooth decay or other problems that require further treatment, our dentist will discuss them with you at this time. If needed, an appointment will be set for a later date.

Regular dental examinations are the best protection against gum disease, tooth loss, and other dental conditions. Our pediatric dentist, as well as The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommend dental examinations every 6 months. This is the best way to preserve your child’s oral health.

What types of problems can regular oral examinations detect and help prevent?

Regular, comprehensive oral exams can help to detect and prevent common tooth problems, such as:

  • Tooth decay (dental caries)
  • Gum disease
  • Tooth loss
  • Bone damage
  • Abnormal tooth alignment
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction
